What role does your independent pharmacy play in your local community?
The role that Dyer Drug plays in our local community has changed over the decades, but we have always tried to be a source of not only medications, but also information. We strive to provide leadership for the community and support for its schools and charities.
What has been the most significant change within your pharmacy over the years?
The store has seen the change from a primarily compounded formulary to primarily “patent medicines.” Dyer Drug has witnessed the advent of generic medications, computerization of prescription records, prescription insurance, and much more. The one thing that has not changed is our continued focus on customer care.
What is your favorite part of owning an independent pharmacy?
Our favorite part of owning an independent pharmacy is the people we serve. Whether it is seeing someone come in and pick up their prescription or having a patient come back and thank us for a particular product and providing a compounded medication that is specific to them, having people appreciate what we do for them makes it all worthwhile.
What does Locally Loved mean to you?
Being Locally Loved means having a customer come in to the store and tell us that they have been coming to Dyer Drug Store all of their life; it’s having a patient tell us that they have been trading with us for over 50 years. It is our hope that Dyer Drug Store will have someone come in 50 years from now to say that they have been trading with Dyer Drug Store for over 50 years.
